Hello friends and families of room 78.  We are writing this blog post together as a class.  This was an amazing week. One of the highlights was taking home our colour wheels.

 We did a small pumpkin investigation, estimating the number of seeds and lines on our pumpkin.  Our pumpkin had 30 lines and 277 seeds!  We carved our pumpkin to look like it was eating a smaller pumpkin!  We didn't win the contest but we had fun!

On Wednesday we had Halloween which was very fun.  We wore our costumes and had a fun day.

On Thursday we had pajama day and everyone felt very sleepy, maybe because of Trick or Treating or maybe because we were dressed for bed.

Hello friends and family of room 78! In class We have continued to build our understanding of addition and subtraction through games and word problems.   We are working with numbers below 20.   This week we were focusing on our feelings.   We have identified several different emotions and what we do when we experience them.   Students have been working on helping each other experience positive emotions and noticing when others are not having a great time.   We watched this video created by a former teacher at Cranston to explain emotions and our control over them.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bKuoH8CkFc During word work we continued to work with letter blends sh and ch.   Students have been learning some new poems featuring many sight words and several new words.   It is great to see their confidence growing when reading poems for the class. Hello friends and family of room 78!  Every Wednesday we will be having library exchange.  Students are allowed to take out 2 books, one for home and one for school.  We ask that they are returned back to school for the following week's book exchange.  Tomorrow will also be Fun Lunch so if you ordered, just send snacks to school.  If you want to order fun lunches, please check the Heathy Hunger section of the school web page.  Stuffy day will be on Thursday, students should bring only one stuffy and we suggest it is not the utmost favourite stuffy students own in case something should happen to it while at school.  Please ask your students what they have been writing about in their writing journals and what they have been doing in Math.
