Hello friends and family of room 78.  This was a fantastic week.  Students worked very hard with their dance instructor and surprised us all with their performance today.  It was great to see the confidence and skills displayed by every class member!!   Next week will be a shorter week as there is no school on Friday.  There are not going to be words of the week this week as we will continue our work on short vowel sounds.  This week we focused on 'a'  and will be looking at 'o' next week.  ***Crazy hair day has been moved to January. Have a wonderful weekend!  Below are some pictures of our week.  We took advantage of the great weather, learned about the vowel A, and learned some new math games!

November 22

Hello friends and family of room 78.   Many important dates to note : Next week we will having a dance residency!   Students will be performing on Friday, November 30 from 9:10 -9:25 am.   All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend.   Our Christmas concert will be on December 12, at 6:30 pm. I sent the December book orders home yesterday and marked them to be due on November 30.   This is to ensure that any books ordered for Christmas would arrive on time.   Library continues to be on Wednesday so students should ensure they have brought back any books from home so that students can exchange them for new ones.   Our leadership team has taken votes and we will be having a CRAZY hair day on December 5, and a movie and PJ day on December 21.

Hello friends and families of room 78! We have been working very hard this week.   Students have been learning about responsibility.   We have been creating a book about our responsibilities to ourselves, at home, at school and in the community.   Ask your children about what their responsibilities are.   In Math we worked on a problem and found many solutions.   The question was;  “There are 12 legs in the zoo, who do they belong to?”   Students have been practicing using our sight words in sentences and working with word rings to quiz one another.   Please continue to read every night with your kids as it is very important for their literacy development.   Next week’s words will be: him his her they

Hello friends and families of room 78.  We are writing this blog post together as a class.  This was an amazing week. One of the highlights was taking home our colour wheels.  We did a small pumpkin investigation, estimating the number of seeds and lines on our pumpkin.  Our pumpkin had 30 lines and 277 seeds!  We carved our pumpkin to look like it was eating a smaller pumpkin!  We didn't win the contest but we had fun! On Wednesday we had Halloween which was very fun.  We wore our costumes and had a fun day. On Thursday we had pajama day and everyone felt very sleepy, maybe because of Trick or Treating or maybe because we were dressed for bed. Now for some quotes from the kids; "On pajama day I loved playing centers! I also like playing outside."  -Amelia "I like when I went to Music on Halloween day! I also like that it is a new month." -Nathan "I like printing at school!  I also really liked when we went on the fall walk." -Carolina
